When You Should Get A Mole Removed: Tips For You

by admin

When it comes to moles on their body, many people are at a loss as far as what to do about them. Some people see them as unsightly and problematic while others just accept them as a natural part of their body. The appearance, type, and number of moles that a person has is entirely unique to them. This can make it difficult when a person is trying to decide whether to let their moles be or get them removed by a dermatologist. Get to know some of the situations in which you should get a mole removed so that you can better know what to do with your own mole situation.

Your Mole Has Changed Color

Health moles remain the same color over the years. This is not to say that there is never any variation in color as moles, just like any other part of your skin, can get irritated, burned, or injured, causing redness and inflammation in the area.

However, barring injury or irritation, your mole should remain the same tone throughout your life. If you notice one day that the mole is significantly darker or lighter than it was before, you may have a problem on your hands. Additionally, if your mole becomes persistently reddened without any obvious cause, that redness can be considered a serious issue as well. All of these are potential signs of skin cancer and should lead you to have a dermatologist remove and test the mole tissue for malignant (cancer) cells.

The Mole Causes You Physical Discomfort

Some moles or skin tags can be downright irritating and cause you physical discomfort. If this is the case, there is no reason that you should allow yourself to continue being inconvenienced or in pain if you do not need to be.

Talk to your dermatologist about options for getting rid of moles that cause discomfort so that you can feel better and go through your days without physical discomfort. If a mole becomes suddenly painful that was not before, this is something you should also tell your dermatologist as your pain may be due to a skin or medical condition and the tissue should be tested when  it is removed as well.

You Worry About The Mole More Than You Should

Not every mole has a medical reason for being removed. Sometimes, you get rid of a mole simply because it is preoccupying or worrying you a great deal. If you find yourself frequently worrying about a specific mole and whether or not it is negatively affecting your appearance or your health, then that is reason enough to call your dermatologist and schedule your mole removal appointment. There is no reason that you should be feeling anxiety about or be distracted by your moles.

Now that you know a few of the scenarios in which you should get your mole removed, you can better take control of your health and well-being. Contact a clinic like Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Specialists for more info.
